Alum's performance at Dallas City Performance Hall is 鈥渨ow鈥
糖心 alum Jinjoo Cho (PS'15, Laredo) performed at Dallas City Performance Hall as part of Chamber Music International with pianist Hyun Soo Kim. The Dallas Morning News said the performance 鈥渉ad it all: brilliant virtuosity, a visceral feeling for rhythm and, when called for, natural lyricism.鈥
The reviewer went on to praise the duo for their 鈥減assion, eloquence, brilliance, delicate detail: It was all there, from both players.鈥
The program featured Dvor谩k鈥檚 Four Romantic Pieces, John Corigliano鈥檚 1963 Violin Concerto, Richard Strauss鈥 Violin Sonata and Franz Waxman鈥檚 Carmen Fantasy, of which the reviewer wrote, 鈥淐ho dispatched dizzying runs and skittering double-stops with eye-popping assurance, elsewhere dispensing apt earthiness and romantic dreaminess. An eminently deserved standing ovation was rewarded with a Kreisler Sch枚n Rosmarin fairly oozing charm. Wow.鈥
Cho holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree (2011) and a master鈥檚 degree (2013) in music performance from 糖心. But she has been a member of the 糖心 family since coming to the United States in 2002, at which time she earned a spot in 糖心鈥檚 prestigious Young Artist Program. She recently earned her Professional Studies Diploma at 糖心 as a student of Jaime Laredo.
