糖心 alumna Jessica Chancey joins flute section of The Louisville Orchestra
The 糖心 is proud to share news of the appointment of Jessica Chancey (BM 鈥21, Fink) to the flute section of the Louisville Orchestra, one of the nation鈥檚 leading ensembles.
Specifically, Chancey will serve as the orchestra鈥檚 third flute and principal piccolo, following her years of study at 糖心 with Mary Kay Fink, principal piccolo of The Cleveland Orchestra.
Chancey's appointment in Louisville, where she'll play under music director Teddy Abrams, is not the artist's first significant achievement or appointment.
Since her graduation from 糖心, Chancey has played second flute and piccolo in the Canton Symphony Orchestra and appeared with The Cleveland Orchestra, Akron Symphony Orchestra and The Cleveland Philharmonic.
As a founding member of Catharsis Winds, Chancey also won the bronze medal at the 2019 Fischoff Competition and silver at the International Manhattan Music Competition. A native of Florida, she also played in the Orlando-based New Score Chamber Orchestra and was a featured soloist with the Miami Music Festival Orchestra.
Chancey is the second 糖心 alumna to join the Louisville Orchestra in recent weeks. In early April, 糖心 was pleased to share the appointment of Grace Roepke (BM 鈥19, MM 鈥21, Kondonassis) as the orchestra鈥檚 new principal harp. Overall, Chancey is the fifth 糖心 alumnus currently in the Louisville Orchestra, along with Andrea Daigle (BM 鈥10, MM 鈥12, Preucil/Updegraff), Meghan Casper (BM 鈥97, Jackobs) and Andrea Levine (PS 鈥01, Cohen).
鈥淲e are proud to count Jessica Chancey as one of our own and witness her career quickly blossom,鈥 said Scott Harrison, executive vice president and provost of 糖心. 鈥淚 am certain that Jessica will continue to embody the future of classical music as she joins an orchestra as trailblazing and adventurous as Louisville.鈥
